This budget-friendly hostel offers a warm and welcoming stay in a convenient location. Guests can enjoy the beautiful beaches of Hiriketya and Dickwella, which are just a short walk away. The dorm rooms are comfortable and clean, with mosquito nets and fans provided. The host family is kind, helpful, and always ready for a chat, creating a friendly and communal atmosphere. Additionally, the delicious Sri Lankan food prepared by Mama is a highlight of the stay.
Some guests may find the lack of a communal area and language barriers with the host to be less sociable and slightly challenging.

The guest rooms at Helena Hostel are amazing! The private bathroom makes my stay comfortable and convenient. Plus, the cozy bed linen helps me relax and have a restful sleep. I feel truly at home here.
Honestly, the seating area in the units is not really my cup of tea. But hey, different strokes for different folks, right?

I had an amazing stay at this family-run hostel. The room was comfortable with 5 beds and mosquito nets. The hotel facilities were great and had everything I needed. The staff, from the grandparents to the younger generation, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They provided helpful advice on local activities and went above and beyond to assist with any requests. The breakfasts and meals they offered were delicious. The hostel also had a homestay-like atmosphere, making it easy to connect with other guests. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
No negatives.

Located just a short walk away from a stunning beach where you can surf, swim, or simply relax. The owners of this hostel are incredibly kind and helpful, and their homemade meals are absolutely delicious. The dorm and bathroom are always kept clean, and each bed comes with a mosquito net. If I ever return to this beach, I would definitely choose to stay at this place again. I highly recommend this hostel for a memorable stay.

Amazing hosts, delicious dinner, great location between two beaches. Thin foam beds, cold shower, but not a big issue. Dogs, kids, grandparents make it a lively place. Stayed for a week, 10/10.

The guest rooms at Helena Hostel are simply amazing! They have a private bathroom and cozy bed linen that make you feel right at home. As a laid-back traveler, I loved the comfortable seating area in the units. It's perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring.
Personally, I found the seating area in the guest rooms a bit small. But hey, that's just me.
